Email continuity during power outage

We have been working with McAfee to provide email continuity for the campus in the event of a power outage. McAfee's servers will start to collect our email when communications between our server and theirs has stopped for 15 minutes. The advantage to this service is that each user will be able to access their email that has been collected by McAfee's servers since the power outage. We have not been able to test this since it requires our email server to be off, but we have been able to confirm communication between our email server and McAfee's. Here is what I need you to do ASAP to ensure you can still receive E-mail in the event of another power outage:

  • Each user will need to visit http://cmail.centenary.edu/ before a power outage occurs to setup your password. Please enter your email address in the email address field and click on "Forgot your password or need to create a password" Follow the instructions for setting up your password.
  • In the event we lose power, you can access your email at <http://cmail.centenary.edu/>. Remember: this solution will only allow you to access the email that has been sent to your account since power has been lost.
  • Once you're logged in, you will be able to send and receive individual emails under the email continuity tab. Please note that the faculty and staff global lists will not work. We are working with McAfee on a solution to try and correct this. If you have access, you should be able to email students at students@lists.centenary.edu.
