SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary College's Office of Student Activities will present Ventriloquist Lynn Trefzger and her "Vocal Illusions and Comedy" at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Hargrove Amphitheater on the Centenary campus. The student-oriented program is free and open to the public.

Ms. Trefzger, a self-taught ventriloquist, uses figure manipulation and vocal skills to create a comedy act that includes interaction with the audience. Dummies, puppets, inanimate objects and unsuspecting by-standers become part of the program.

A nominee for the National Association of College Acts' Comedy Entertainer of the Year Award, Ms. Trefzger has appeared on Good Morning America, Sunday Today, America's Super Showcase, TNN's Statler Brothers Show, PM Magazine and Del's Folks. She has also shared the stage with Shields and Yarnell, Sinbad, The Turtles and Kevin Meaney, and has performed concerts and presentations across the country.

Among her awards are "Best Overall Performer" at the Lake Cuyahouga Talent Contest, the "Most Deserving Young Vent" at the International Ventriloquist Convention, and first place in the WPVL Radio Talent Contest.

In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Hurley Music Building Auditorium. The presentation is expected to last approximately one hour. For further information contact Rich Thompson, director of student activities, at (318) 869-5266. Centenary students attending the event will receive Cultural Perspectives (CP) credit.
