SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary College chapter of Alpha Chi has been honored this spring as a Star Chapter for its work in the last complete academic year, 1995-96.

Alpha Chi is a national scholastic honor society. Membership in Alpha Chi is the highest academic recognition a Centenary student can achieve. Juniors and seniors who have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have completed at least two semesters at Centenary are eligible for membership.

Members attend dinner meetings in the homes of faculty members, hear presentations and programs on topics of interest and have the opportunity to present scholarly papers or fine arts creations at regional and national meetings.

Star Chapters of Alpha Chi are those that during the award year register new inductees, send faculty and students to the regional or national convention, have a student on the convention's scholarly program, nominate a student for a national scholarship or fellowship, sponsor an on-campus program promoting academics, and file an annual chapter report with the national office.
