SHREVEPORT, LA -- Science can be fun and understandable to all, according to Centenary College faculty and students. They plan to make their point at Centenary's annual Physics and Chemistry Circus, which is set for Monday, April 14 in the Hargrove Amphitheater.

"The time will be from 8 to 9 p.m. so that we can use nature's darkness to enhance the event," said Dr. Jerry Lisantti, associate professor of physics.

Students and professors from Centenary will "present and explain some of the more gee-whizzy demonstrations," he said.

A student will walk barefoot on a bed of broken glass and a student will recline on a bed of nails. Others will make a pickle glow and demonstrate "thermite." In all, the organizers will perform 16 demonstrations that illustrate basic principles of physics and chemistry during the 45- to 60-minute event.

The program is free and open to the public. For further information, contact Dr. Lisantti at 318-869-5219.
