SHREVEPORT, LA -- The 11th annual Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar, featuring some 35,000 books on sale at bargain prices, will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13, in the Gold Dome. Sale hours on Friday will be 6-9 p.m., and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Offerings include encyclopedias, dictionaries, literary classics, novels, textbooks, first editions, signed books, rare books and bestsellers, as well as records, CDs and tapes.

Proceeds from the sale -- now totaling over $175,000 -- are used to improve the quality of life for Centenary students. Past projects made possible by Book Bazaar proceeds include new Carillon Chimes; camping equipment which the students can use any time; The New York Times delivered daily to the Student Union Building; two special scholarship funds; picnic tables all over campus; new lobby furniture in dormitories, classroom buildings and the administration building; and graduation day events for students and parents.

The sale has become an annual favorite of both book collectors and casual readers. Admission is free and prices still start at 10 cents.

The Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar is sponsored by the Centenary Muses, an organization of mostly alumnae interested in literary issues at the college.
