SHREVEPORT, LA -- For seniors who enjoy challenges in their lives, whose minds are inquiring and seeking new insights or knowledge, or who just like to have fun, Senior Adult Education at Centenary College has the program for you.
From a three-part lecture series on the Roosevelts to Financial Focus on Stocks, Bonds and Funds to Legal Strategies, from Line Dancing to The English Settlers of America, from Introduction to Computers to Exploring the Internet -- there's something for everyone.
Over 20 short, six-weeks, non-credit daytime classes begin Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. with Fashion, Fun and Finance: fashions modeled by our Seniors, finance by Don Friday of Edward D. Jones Co., door prizes and fun for all. Best Spring Hat (by vote) wins a special prize!
Literacy and Art Experiences, Travelogues, Basic Beauty Culture for Men and Women, Healthy Eating & Wellness for the 21st Century, Designing Interiors: New Looks for Old Rooms, Folk Dancing, Calligraphy, Novel Teas, 55 Alive/Mature Driving, Birdwatching, The Operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan, and Beginning/Intermediate Watercolors are also available.
Two special interest groups that meet monthly are The Writers Group, and a course on Fortnight Journal Keeping for Self-Discovery.
The classes are open to anyone 55 years of age or older. Registration is on a first-come basis. Walk-in Registration will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Center for Extended Learning, 2910 Centenary Boulevard (directly across from the Meadows Museum).
Semester registration fee is $15. Computer and Watercolor classes have small lab fees. All classes are held at Centenary College. The volunteer instructors are the College faculty, professionals in the community, and retired professionals.
