Centenary Trustee Vernon Sanders to Appear at Benefit Book-signing Event Thursday, Feb. 20 at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Dr. Vernon Sanders of Atlanta Ga., will sign books and briefly discuss his To Chase the Sun during a reception at 3 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 20 at Centenary College.

The event, a benefit for Centenary, will be held in the lobby of Hamilton Hall. Sanders, a member of the Centenary Board of Trustees and in Shreveport for the board’s quarterly meeting, based his fictionally adapted biographical memoir on a true story. It is the revelation of one man’s long and treacherous journey as a member of the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

“I have tried to tell the story of a soldier, who like countless others, served his country with honor,” Sanders said in the author’s note at the beginning of the book. “Emphasis had been placed on the ‘human interest’ aspects of his life: humor, irony, mischief, sacrifice and discovery. It is not intended to be another account of World War II, but rather the conflict in Europe serves as a backdrop for a very personal and revealing story.”

Copies of the book will be available for $15 for soft cover and $25 for hard cover. All proceeds from the event will go to the Clyde and Estelle Sanders Scholarship Fund at Centenary.
