SHREVEPORT, LA -- Students will argue two cases during the Moot Court competition that begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Centenary College. The event, free and open to the public, will be held in Room 08 in the basement of Magale Library.

Forming the panel of judges will be Shreveport attorneys Alec Van Hook, law clerk for Judge Henry Politz; Tim Wilhite of Barlow and Hardtner; and John Hodges of Davidson, Nix and Jones. Van Hook and Wilhite are Centenary graduates.

Students presenting arguments in the "Gays in the Military" case are William David of Mandeville, La.; Brian Hodge of Dallas, Texas; Jon Veen of Meridian, Miss.; Kate Marionneaux of Baton Rouge, La., and Diana Martinez of Shreveport, La. Presenting arguments in the "Medical Use of Marijuana" case will be Johnathan Clay of Fort Worth, Texas; Mike Matthews of Humble, Texas; Martha Rundell of Alexandria, La.; Slayter McKay of Baton Rouge, La., and Jimmy Van Doren of Jonesboro, Ark.

The Moot Court competition is a requirement in the Constitutional Law class taught by Dr. Rodney Grunes, chairman of the Centenary Department of History and Political Science. The event is sponsored by the Centenary Pre-law Society and offers Cultural Perspectives (CP) credit to Centenary students who attend.
