Parents and Family Weekend is Oct. 31-Nov. 2
at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA -- An "Egg Drop," a climbing and rappelling demonstration, soccer and volleyball games, mini courses, a costume contest and the Centenary Choir's annual performance of Rhapsody in View are some of the events planned for the 1997 Parents and Family Weekend Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Centenary.

Centenary's annual Halloween Hoopla will take place on Friday, Oct. 31 in the Gold Dome. It will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a costume contest, spirit competitions and introductions of the 1997-98 Centenary Gents and other athletic teams.

Fall Fest, an event annually sponsored by the Student Activities Board, will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 1. This year sky-diving will be included among the many other games and activities.

The internationally recognized Centenary Choir will present its fall concert, Rhapsody in View, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Shreveport Civic Theater.

Parents and Family Weekend is sponsored by Centenary's Student Government Association.

-- Soccer at Centenary Soccer Field, Ladies soccer at 1 p.m., Gents soccer at 3 p.m.
--Halloween Hoopla, Gold Dome, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 1
--Registration, South Dining Hall lobby, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
--Continental Breakfast, South Dining Hall, 8:30-9:15 a.m.
--Welcoming remarks by Amy Ware, SGA president, and Dr. Ken Schwab, Centenary president, 9:15 a.m.
--Mini Courses, Session I 10-10:50 a.m., Session II and Physics Dept. Egg Drop, 11-11:50 a.m.
--Climbing and rappelling demonstration, Peavy Memorial Climbing Tower, 10 a.m. - noon.
--Lunch with Faculty and Staff, North Dining Hall, Noon-1:30 p.m.
--Ladies Volleyball, Gold Dome, 2 p.m.
--President's Reception, Civic Center, 6:30 p.m.
--Centenary Choir's Rhapsody in View Concert, Civic Center, 7 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 2
--Sunday Brunch, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
--Ladies Soccer, Soccer Field, 1 p.m.
--Centenary Choir's Rhapsody in View Concert, Civic Center, 2:30 p.m.
