SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary College's 1997 Christmas season will begin with a public service of readings, prayer, song and candlelight on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. in Brown Memorial Chapel. The program is free and open to the public.

Music will be provided by 24 members of the Centenary College Choir with guest director Jennifer Dent, and by Professor Ronald E. Dean, organist. The congregation will also be invited to sing several familiar Christmas hymns, including O Come, All Ye Faithful and Silent Night.

During the service, selected readings and prayers will be led by students in the Centenary School of Church Careers and the Rev. Jayne Trammell-Kelly, coordinator. Jonathan King, a junior religion major and Church Careers student, will lead A Christmas Meditation.

After the service the congregation is invited to attend a brief campus lighting ceremony and reception in front of Magale Library. For further information, contact the Centenary Office of Public Relations at 869-5120.
