SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary College Chemistry Club has received a citation from the American Chemical Society (ACS) that places it in the top 8 percent of ACS recognized chemistry clubs in the nation.
The club received the citation based on the number and nature of its activities during the 1996-97 academic year. These activities included an extensive service project at Hollywood Middle School, social events and attendance at local section meetings.
Senior chemistry major John Hyatt and recent chemistry graduate Michael Farris ( 97) served as president and vice president, respectively, during the award period.
Officers for the 1997-98 school year are Netsanet Temesgan, Nicole Smith, Cliff Magness and Christine Zaffarano.
Dr. Tom Ticich of the Chemistry Department is the advisor to the organization.
