SHREVEPORT, LA -- Members of the Centenary College community will celebrate Halloween with two events on Friday, Oct. 31.

From 5 to 6 p.m., the Student Activities Board is sponsoring a campus-wide trick-or-treat event. "We are inviting all of the children from the Shreveport and Bossier area in order to provide them with a safe place to have fun and trick or treat," said Student Activities Director Rich Thompson.

Students will decorate the campus and faculty, staff and students will be involved in handing out candy to youngsters.

From 7-9 p.m. in the Gold Dome, Centenary students will observe their annual Halloween Hoopla event.

In addition to celebrating Halloween, Hoopla is traditionally considered the start of the Centenary basketball season. The Gents players will be introduced during the festivities and will hold a short intra-squad scrimmage.

The Leading Ladies, Centenary's dance line, also performs and other athletic teams are introduced. Additional events include a costume contest with cash prizes and various spirit competitions.

Hoopla is free and open to Centenary students, parents, faculty, and staff. For more information, contact Michelle Sagere at 318-869-5736.
