Authority on Foreign Policy, International Relations, Dr. Charles W. Kegley Jr., to speak Sept. 11 at Centenary College Convocation

SHREVEPORT, LA -- American foreign policy and international relations will be the topic at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 when Dr. Charles W. Kegley Jr. of the University of South Carolina speaks at Centenary College. The program, one of a series presented by the college's Convocations Committee, will be held in Kilpatrick Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kegley is Pearce Professor of International Relations at USC and is a former president of the International Studies Association and a former Pew Faculty Fellow in International Affairs at Harvard University.

A native of Evanston, Ill., he holds a B.A. degree from the School of International Service of The American University and a Ph.D. from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University

. He is the author of four books: Controversies in International Relations Theory: Realism and the Neoliberal Challenge (St. Martin's Press), The Long Postwar Peace: Contending Explanations and Projections (HarperCollins), International Terrorism: Characteristics, Causes, Controls (St. Martin's Press) and A General Empirical Typology of Foreign Policy Behavior (Sage Publications). He is also the co-author or co-editor of 34 other books and numerous other publications, chapters and papers.

Dr. Kegley has served since 1993 as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs. Among his awards are the Distinguished Alumnus Award of The American University and the Russell Award for Distinguished Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Excellence in Teaching Award, both from the University of South Carolina. He held a Fulbright Senior Scholar Fellowship in 1978 and was a Maxwell Fellow in 1968-69 and 1970-71, in addition to holding a New York State Regents Fellowship and serving as R.M. Davis Scholar at The American University.

He is listed in numerous publications, including Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Law, American Men of Achievement, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Contemporary Authors and Who's Who in American Education.
