Honduran Comedian Carlos Mencia to Perform at Centenary April 20

SHREVEPORT, LA -- "When I'm on stage, I say it. The truth makes people laugh, and it satisfies their appetites," says Honduran comic Carlos Mencia about his performing style.

Mencia, who will perform at Centenary on Monday, April 20 at 8 p.m. in the Hargrove Memorial Amphitheater, has appeared on such programs as The Tonight Show and Comic Relief.

Described as one of America's most-talked-about young comedians, Mencia tries to reach across the lines of race and gender by poking fun at the things that can divide people. After a show at the University of Akron in Ohio, someone commented, "More than just a comedy show, he raised issues that affect us all every day."

The Centenary College Student Activities Board is sponsoring this performance. It is free and open to the public. If it rains, it will be in Centenary's Kilpatrick Auditorium.
