Centenary Christmas Celebration to Begin with Song and Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in Brown Chapel

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary College's 1998 Christmas Celebration will begin with a public service of readings, prayer, song and candlelight on Friday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in Brown Memorial Chapel. The program is free and open to the public.

Music will be provided by the Centenary College Choir, directed by Dr. Will Andress; the Camerata Singers, directed by Dr. Julia B. Thorn; the Centenary Brass Quintet; and Professor Ronald E. Dean, organist. Soloists will include Summer Chapman and Weston Webb. The congregation will be invited to sing several familiar Christmas hymns, including O Come, All Ye Faithful; Angels We Have Heard on High; Silent Night, and Joy to the World.

During the service, selected readings and prayers will be led by Dr. Donald Scott, chaplain, and students representing the Centenary School of Church Careers: Erin Bryan, Sean Gilder, Karla Jackson, Lee Parker and Katy Valentine.

After the service, the congregation is invited to attend a brief campus lighting ceremony, reception and visit with Santa Claus in Magale Library. For further information, contact the Centenary Office of Public Relations at 318-869-5120.
