Historic Northwest Louisiana "Oil Land" Photography on Display through April in Magale Library Gallery

SHREVEPORT, LA -- "Images of An Oil Land's Past" is on display through April 30 at the Magale Library Gallery, Centenary College.

The exhibit is a collection of early 20th Century photography from rural Northwest Louisiana. It has been organized and interpreted by Dr. Mary Barrett of Centenary and captures the story of tremendous resource wealth and its development and use.

The photography is from the archives of the Caddo-Pine Island Oil and Historical Museum, which is directed by Coe Haygood.

The Magale Library will hold an exhibit Open House on Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibit and the Open House are free and open to the public.

Magale Library is located on the east side of the Centenary campus on Woodlawn Street at the head of Columbia Street. Spring semester hours are Mondays-Thursdays, 8 a.m.-midnight; Fridays, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sundays, 2 p.m.-midnight.
