Centenary Announces 5-week Summer School Session June 9-July 10
For the third consecutive summer, students taking summer classes will find their tuition costs have been reduced by one-third of the fall/spring semester rate. The plan allows the college to serve Centenary students as well as area high schoolers and students from other colleges who are home for the summer, officials said.
Summer registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 8 in Hamilton Hall. Returning students and those who have completed the admission process can register at any time during the day. Rising high school juniors and seniors, college students from other campuses who wish to attend for the summer only, and other new students should contact the Centenary Office of Admissions no later than a week prior to the June 8 registration.
The following classes will meet five days a week June 9 - July 10:
8:30-10:30 a.m. -- Music 143A: Music Appreciation; History 205A: History of the U.S. to 1877; and Religion 101A: Introduction to the Old Testament.
10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. -- History 206A: History of the U.S. from 1877; Computer Science 101A: Introduction to Computers; and Religion 102A: Introduction to the New Testament.
1 - 3 p.m. -- Math 104A: College Algebra; English 201A: Southern Women Writers; and Physics 103A: Conceptual Physics (co-requirement Physics 113A).
1-3:15 p.m. -- English 393A and Foreign Language 393A: Literature in Translation.
3:30 - 5:30 p.m. -- Physics 113A: Conceptual Physics Lab.
Most of the courses are open to rising high school juniors and seniors, who receive credit for completed coursework after entering Centenary as an undergraduate during their summer or fall term immediately following graduation. To obtain transcripted college credit, high school students must apply for concurrent enrollment through the Centenary Office of Admissions at 318-869-5131.
