The 311 Best Colleges

SHREVEPORT, LA--"Professors teach all classes and have been known to invite entire classes over for movie nights and crawfish boils," says the new edition of The Princeton Review's The 311 Best Colleges in its article about Centenary College of Louisiana.

It describes Centenary students as "remarkably pleased with their academic experience" and highlights its "small classes and ample personal attention from a 'supportive and accomplished' faculty.' "

Using information collected through anonymous student surveys, including multiple choice responses and narrative questions, and other college sources, the book discusses Centenary's offerings in the areas of academics, student life, student body, admissions and financial aid.

The profile also includes charts about students, campus life, academics, admissions and financial aid.

The profile mentions Centenary's low student/faculty ratio (11:1) and its Honor Code and Cultural Perspectives program. Says one student about the program, "If you're looking for a good time, it's not too difficult to find around here . . . The students here let it all out on Friday, yet go to an opera on Saturday--and enjoy it."

Centenary's profile in The 311 Best Colleges is the latest recognition of several recent ones for the college. These include "No. 1 Best Value" among the South's regional institutions in U.S. News and World Report and a ranking as one of 300 colleges listed in Barron's Best Buys in College Education.

The Princeton Review's The 311 Best Colleges is available in bookstores for $20.
