Of New Composition, "Mountain Men," at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA -- A concert featuring the world premiere of a new composition, entitled Mountain Men by Centenary music professor Ron Bukoff, will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Centenary College. The composition is for bass baritone and bassoon, and it features ballads traditional to the Ozarks, Smokeys, and Appalachians.

The recital, A Bassoon Potpourri, also includes a mixture of composers, including Cherubini, Bizet, Massenet, Goepfart, Pierne, Siegmeister and Bukoff. It will also feature the vocal and dramatic talents of Horace English and the assistance of Julia Thorn, mezzo-soprano, and Ross Smith, piano. All three are music professors at Centenary.

Dr. Bukoff has played the bassoon professionally with orchestras in California, New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Texas and Louisiana. Several solo compositions, chamber works and concertos have been composed for and dedicated to him.

This recital, free and open to the public, will be held in the Hurley Auditorium.
