Parents and Family Weekend is Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA--The Centenary Choir's 50th annual presentation of its Rhapsody in View concert will be just one of the highlights at Centenary College's 1998 Parents and Family Weekend Oct. 30-Nov. 1.

Other events for the weekend include Centenary's annual Halloween Hoopla, mini classes, opportunities to climb the Patrick Peavy Memorial Climbing Wall, and an art auction in Meadows Museum.

The weekend will begin with a Ladies volleyball game at 7 p.m. against Jacksonville State in the Gold Dome. Following the game, the Gold Dome will be transformed as basketball and other athletic team members, costume-clad students, and others from the Shreveport and Centenary community arrive for the College's annual Halloween Hoopla.

On Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., an art auction will be held in Meadows Museum. This event is being sponsored by Pandora, Centenary's literary magazine, and Kappa Pi, Centenary's art honor society.

Perhaps the weekend's most-anticipated event is the Centenary College Choir's 50th annual performances of Rhapsody in View. They will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Shreveport Civic Theater. In observance of the golden anniversary of this concert, the choir's alumni have been invited to add their voices to this year's Choir during part of the event. More than 300 Choir alumni will participate.

Tickets are $6 and are available from Choir members, Lions Club members, the Hurley School of Music and several Shreveport locations.
