SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary Ladies soccer team fell to Louisiana State University in the last five minutes of play when LSU's Wendy Gutierrez scored handing the Ladies a 3-2 defeat.
LSU owned the first half of the match, outplaying the Ladies and jumping out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Kristen Hogan and Wendy Gutierrez.
The second half was a different story as Centenary took control, taking 20 shots after just four in the first. Three minutes into the second, Centenary's Kasey McCall (Richardson, TX) scored with a header, cutting LSU's lead to one. Ten minutes later it was Valerie Sandoval (Hammond, LA) tying the game off the assist by Dianne Scott (Houston, TX).
With the game tied with less than five minutes to play, Wendy Gutierrez notched her second goal of the day, giving the Lady Tigers the victory.
The Ladies (6-7) next play Sunday when they host Nicholls State at 2 p.m.
