Volleyball: SLU Sweeps Tri-Match, Ladies Lose Two

SHREVEPORT--Mandy Withrow and Brooke Kaiser combined for 34 kills in two matches as Southeastern Louisiana captured a tri-match at Centenary, Sunday.

Withrow had eight kills while Kaiser and Jenn Cool each added six kills in a 15-4, 15-6, 15-5 over the host Ladies to close the afternoon.

Sophomore Krissi McFarland (Ft. Worth, TX) led the Ladies (5-17) with six kills in the losing effort.

The Lady Lions also defeated Grambling State by a count of 15-1, 15-5, 15-6. Kaiser, who hit .909 in the match, and Withrow each had 10 kills.

Kim Young and Yolanda Brown each had six kills for the Lady Tigers (17-6).

The first match of the day was by far the best as Grambling State defeated Centenary 11-15, 15-6, 15-8, 2-15, 15-12.

Young had a match-high 25 kills and 25 digs while Brown added 17 kills and 13 digs.

Centenary freshman Marcille Cox (Austin, TX) recorded a season and career-high nine kills to lead Centenary.

The Ladies will open their Trans America Athletic Conference season tomorrow with a pair of matches.

Centenary will host Mercer at 4:30 p.m. and Georgia State at 6:30 p.m.
