Marjorie Lyons Playhouse Announces Cast for Upcoming Production of Dracula

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary College’s Theatre Department opens its fall season on Sep. 24 with a new adaptation by Steve Kietz of Bram Stoker’s classic novel, Dracula. Director Robert Buseick has assembled an impressive cast of past award winners and new faces for this production. Costumes are by Patric McWilliams; lights and setting are by Don Hooper and sound design is by Jeremiah Stevens. Assistant director(s)/stage manager(s) are Danny Ruiz and Emily Kirkland. Eric Lee is in charge of properties.

Dracula opens at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on Sept. 24 with additional performances on Sept. 25, 26, Oct. 1, 2, 3 an 4. All performances commence at 8 p.m. except the Oct. 4 performance, which begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 or older, $7.50 for students and $5 for children 12 and under. The box office will open on Thursday, Sept. 17. The cast:

RENFIELD -- THOMAS WELCH, a junior theatre/are major, has appeared at MLP in productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, subUrbia, Big River, Sweet Charity, and created one of the Stink Bugs in the World Premier of The Leaf Men.

MINA -- SARAH PERKINS is a freshman theatre major making her first appearance at MLP. She is a graduate of the Louisiana School of Arts and Sciences.

LUCY -- MIRANDA SHACKELFORD, a senior thatre major at Centenary, was a Times Drama Award nominee for her performance in Lost in Yonkers and has appeared at MLP in God’s Country, Red Scare on Sunset, subUrbia, and Little Women. She was also a Stink Bug in the World Premier of The Leaf Men.

HARKER -- ROB LAHA is a freshman theatre major. A native of Virginia and current resident of Shreveport, he played one of the Johnnies in the 1998 summer production of Grand Hotel.

SEWARD -- ZAC LUPO is a sophomore theatre major who has appeared in God’s Country and Grand Hotel at MLP. Zac played the Cricket in The Leaf Men.

DRACULA -- LOGAN SLEDGE was the Times Drama Award winner as Best Actor last season for his work in Angels in America and was a previous nominee for Period of Adjustment and Lost in Yonkers. Also at MLP, Logan has appeared in Bent, Red Scare On Sunset, Oliver, Funny Girl, and God’s Country. He played one of the Leaf Men in The Leaf Men. Logan is a junior theatre major at Centenary.

VAN HALSING -- STEVEN E. BAKER was a Times Drama Award nominee last season for Angels in America and God’s Country and was the winner as Best Supporting Actor in Funny Girl. Steve has also been a Times Drama Award nominee for Merrily We Roll Along, and at Shreveport Little Theatre for The Woman in Black. He is a senior theatre major who has also appeared inooy Oliver!, Sweet Charity, Assassins, Lost in Yonkers, The Devils, Red Scare On Sunset, Bent, Period of Adjustment and The Diary of Anne Frank. Steve was also a Leaf Man in The Leaf Men.

VIXEN -- KATHRYN SHELTON is a sophomore theatre major who played one of the flowers in The Leaf Men and was in God’s Country at MLP.

VIXEN -- VANESSA KELLER is a senior theatre major who created the Spider Queen in The Leaf Men and was in God’s Country at MLP.

MAID -- DANNI GARZA is a sophomore theatre major who has appeared in God’s Country and created a flower in The Leaf Men.

WAITER/ATTENDANT -- ERIC LEE is a junior theatre major who has appeared at MLP in Grand Hotel, God’s Country, Angels in America, and was the Little Metal Man in The Leaf Men.

ATTENDANT -- KEN SCRUGGS is a sophomore theatre major who has appeared at MLP in God’s Country, Oliver and Grand Hotel. He was a Preying Mantis in The Leaf Men.

ATTENDANT -- JOSH TALLEY is a freshman theatre major who is making his MLP debut in the production of Dracula.
