SHREVEPORT, LA--Centenary College students will celebrate their annual student homecoming events Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 and 6, with activities including a bonfire, parade, tailgate party, homecoming court presentation and Gents basketball game.

The weekend's activities will begin with a bonfire at 8 p.m. Friday behind the Centenary baseball field. Appearances by the Centenary Leading Ladies dance line and the Gents basketball team are expected and the homecoming court will be presented.

On Saturday, the Centenary Residence Life Association will bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to the Centenary community by sponsoring a homecoming parade with a Mardi Gras theme. The parade will begin at 1 a.m. and will include Jeeps and trucks from local automobile dealers, a fire truck, local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and participants from various Centenary organizations.

Parade participants will meet in the Jackson Hall parking lot at 10: 15 a.m. There, floats will be judged on the basis of originality, decoration and spirit. After leaving Jackson parking lot, the parade route will turn right onto Centenary Boulevard, right onto Wilkinson, and then right onto Woodlawn before concluding at the Gold Dome, where prizes for the floats will be given.

Immediately following the parade's arrival at the Gold Dome, the Residence Hall Association will host a barbecue and tailgate party for the Centenary community.

At 1:05 p.m. in the Gold Dome, the Centenary Gents basketball team will take on the Fighting Camels of Campbell University in a Trans America Athletic Conference game. The homecoming royalty will be presented during the game's half-time festivities. Admission to the basketball game is $6 for adults and $3 for students.
