Centenary Spring Literary Study Series on Tuesdays to Cover 'Brit Humor' Feb. 16-March 2, 'Short Stories of Flannery O'Connor' March 16-April 20

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary College Muses will present two courses of study and host a luncheon for their 1999 Spring Literary Study Series.

All courses will take place in Jackson Hall Room 304 on the Centenary campus. Lectures will be given at 11:15 a.m. and repeated at 5:15 p.m. Participants are welcome to attend at either time.

Three lectures on "Brit Humor" will be presented by Centenary President Emeritus Dr. Donald Webb on Feb. 16 and 23 and March 2. The cost for this series is $20 per person.

"The Short Stories of Flannery O'Connor" will be presented by members of the Centenary College English faculty on Tuesdays, March 16, 23, and 30, and April 6, 13, and 20. Cost for this series is $30.

Additionally, the course's text, Flannery O'Connor: The Complete Stories, is available in paperback at local bookstores. Participants will need to prepare for the first class in this series, taught by Centenary Professor Emeritus Dr. Lee Morgan, by reading "The Displaced Person."

The annual Kick-off Luncheon will be held during Celebration of Women Week and will feature a lecture on Flannery O'Connor by Dr. Sura Ruth, a well known O'Connor scholar and English professor at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. The cost of the luncheon is $7 per person.
