Over 38,000 Books Available at Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The 13th annual Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar -- with over 38,000 books, records, CDs, and tapes -- will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10 and 11, in the Centenary College Gold Dome. Sale hours on Friday will be 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Offerings include bestsellers, cookbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, literary classics, novels, textbooks, children's books, first editions, signed books, rare books, and scores of other categories. Music categories include classical, rock, country and western, rhythm and blues, rare albums, and more.

Proceeds are used to fund projects and programs for Centenary College students. Past projects include providing carillon chimes; camping and exercise equipment; the New York Times delivered daily to the Student Union Building; a $1,000 scholarship fund; picnic tables; furniture for residence halls, classroom buildings, and the administration building; and graduation day events for students and parents.

The book sale has become an annual favorite of book collectors, students, and casual readers. Admission is free, and prices still start at 10 cents.

The Friends of Centenary Book Bazaar -- one of the largest book sales in the country -- is sponsored by The Centenary Muses, an organization of alumnae and friends of the college.

Centenary College of Louisiana, located in Shreveport, is a nationally ranked private liberal arts college. Founded in 1825, it is the oldest chartered college west of the Mississippi River.
