First Drive-through Book Donation Day is Friday, April 14 for Next September's Centenary College Book Bazaar

SHREVEPORT, LA--The first drive-up Book Donation Day for the next Centenary College Book Bazaar will be held Friday, April 14.

Volunteers will be on hand that day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 145 Wilkinson, the blue house east of the tennis courts at the intersection of Wilkinson Street and Centenary Boulevard. They will assist donors with their donations of books, CDs, tapes and videos that will, in turn, be sold at the Sept. 15-16 benefit event.

Organizers are seeking old and new books in both hardback and paperback, except for magazines and condensed books, which can no longer be taken.

Those wishing to donate books at times other than the monthly drive-up donation days can leave their books on the porch or in the waterproof bins at the "Book House" any time, organizers said. Those with large donations that need to be picked up are asked to call Centenary's Office of Service Learning at 869-5542.

The 14th annual Centenary College Book Bazaar will be held in the Gold Dome. The sale, which draws thousands of shoppers, is expected to offer more than 40,000 books at bargain prices. Co-chairs for the Year 2000 event are Dian Tooke, director of service learning at Centenary, and Hazel Fleck, community volunteer.
