People Magazine Ad
Features Yokems' Service, Centenary's 175th Anniversary, Academic Success
SHREVEPORT, LA - Once
again, Centenary College of Louisiana has been featured in an advertisement
in People magazine, thanks to the assistance of Hoyt and Alan Yokem
of Shreveport.
The owners of Yokem
Toyota in Shreveport are winners -- for the tenth year -- of Toyota's
highest honor, the President's Award. The honor goes annually to
dealers who display an exceptional dedication to service. The honorees
and their civic passion are subsequently featured in a regional advertisement
in People.
Hoyt Yokem is a longtime
member of the Centenary Board of Trustees and Alan Yokem is an alumnus
and member of the President's Advisory Council. They were photographed
along with Centenary President Kenneth L. Schwab and members of the faculty
and staff, who were celebrating the College's 175th birthday with balloons,
confetti and party horns on the steps of Hamilton Hall.
Founded in 1825, Centenary
is the oldest college in Louisiana and is the nation's oldest private liberal
arts college west of the Mississippi.
The September 4, 2000
advertisement, part of a two-page Toyota spread, is shown below (color
background added):
