GENTS DROP DOUBLEHEADER AFTER SIX-RUN LEAD

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary Gents (9-21-1) dropped both games of a doubleheader on Sunday to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (14-9) after winning the series opener on Saturday.

Game one of the doubleheader featured 25 hits between the two teams. But in the end, it was poor defense that decided the game. The Gents committed four errors that provided too many opportunities for the Islanders. Centenary dropped game one by the final of 9-7.

Centenary jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game two as the Gents posted all six runs in the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam by catcher Ryan Hageman. However, the Gents failed to add another run over the final seven innings.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi battled back from the six-run deficit scoring eight runs over the last three innings to take the victory. Orlando Ruiz homered in the first extra inning to add the final blow, winning the game 8-6.

The Gents will host LSU at the Fairgrounds Field on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
