GENTS CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary Gents (9-25-1) opened their three-game series against Nicholls State (15-15) Friday night with a loss. Despite striking out 12 batters, the Gent pitchers gave up 13 hits en route to a 13-6 drumming.

The Colonels came out of the gate quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning, scoring three runs in the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Nicholls State added six more runs on four hits and two Centenary errors. The Gents committed five errors on the night, accounting for five unearned runs.

Nicholls State was led by first baseman Bryan Daigle. Daigle went 4 for 5, scored two runs, and added four RBIs. Doug Gill went 2 for 5 for the Colonels, finishing with a homerun in the ninth inning.

Centenary's Bobby Gilliam was the lone bright sport for the Gents. The freshman went 2 for 4 and scored three runs.

The series will continue at noon on Saturday.
