Hurley Chamber Orchestra Presents its Debut Performance
Nov. 13 with New Director
SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary
College’s Hurley Chamber Orchestra will present a concert on Monday, Nov.
13 at 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Hurley School of Music. Admission
is free and open to the public.
The concert marks the
Shreveport debut of the Hurley Chamber Orchestra’s new conductor, Eric
L. McIntyre. McIntyre, who has his B.M. and M.M. degrees in horn
performance from Indiana University, is currently completing his D.M.A.
in music composition at the University of Houston. He is in his first
semester at Centenary College, where he also teaches music composition
and theory.
The performance will
feature music from a variety of musical eras, encompassing the 16th through
the 20th centuries. Mozart’s Symphony No. 28 in C Major will open
the program, which will continue with Four Dances from Il Primo Libro
de Balli by Giorgio Mainerio, Gymnopédies by Eric Satie,
and Rumanian Folk Dances by Béla Bartók. Emperor
Waltz op. 437 by Johann Strauss Jr. will close the program.
