Hurley Chamber Orchestra
Concert April 9
To Feature Works by
Living Composers
SHREVEPORT, LA -- On
Monday, April 9 at 8 p.m. in Hurley Recital Hall, the Hurley Chamber Orchestra
will perform an unusual concert. It is unusual because most of the
works on the concert are by living composers.
"Yes... they are rumored
to exist," says music instructor Eric L. McIntyre. "These days it's not
often you get to hear an orchestra concert made up primarily of works written
during your lifetime."
The concert will include
two world premieres by Centenary composers, McIntyre and Kyle Greer.
The orchestra will
also present Gavin Bryars' multimedia work, The Sinking of the Titanic
for digital tape and orchestra. Featured performers include oboe soloist
Theresa Zale Bridges and conductor John Cowden.
This Easter week concert
will conclude, appropriately, with Haydn's "La Passione" Symphony No.
49. Admission is free.
