Susan McDougal to Speak at Centenary Law Day Program Tuesday, April 24

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Susan McDougal, imprisoned for civil disobedience in the Whitewater investigation, will speak on "Women in Prison" during the annual Law Day program Tuesday, April 24 at Centenary College.

She will speak at 7 p.m. in Kilpatrick Auditorium, which is located in the Smith Building at the corner of Kings Highway and Woodlawn Street. The program, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Centenary Pre-Law Society and the campus chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Ms. McDougal served time in seven jails in four states in 22 months. She will speak on her time in the prisons and jails, the women she met there and the circumstances surrounding her imprisonment.

"Far from bitter or angry, Susan's story is one of courage and hope," organizers said.

In 1998, Ms. McDougal received the Profiles in Courage Award from the California Criminal Defense Bar. She later received the Eleanor Roosevelt Award from Americans for Democratic Action and the Award of Courage from the California Women Lawyers Association.
