Centenary Camerata and Chorale to Present
Night of Mystery and Wonder Dec. 4

SHREVEPORT, LA -- A "Night of Mystery and Wonder -- Christmas with Camerata" will be presented by Centenary College's Camerata and Chorale singers at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 in the Hurley Music Building.  The program is free and open to the public.

Dr. Julia Brasher Thorn will conduct and Gay Grosz will accompany.

The program of sacred choral music of Advent is based around the four settings of the text O Magnum Mysterium.  For centuries composers have been inspired by the beautiful text with its juxtaposition of the birth of the new-born King amongst the lowly animals and shepherds.

Additional highlights include a Spanish carol with Dr. Horace English, bass baritone.  Gamelan is a technically challenging piece, which imitates the bell-like gamelan music at Bali and Java, and the Poulenc Christmas Motets.
