Music Set for Feb. 18
New Friends Chamber
Players Concert
SHREVEPORT, LA -- On
Sunday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m., the New Friends Chamber Players will perform
for the Friends of Music Concert Series at Centenary College. The
program will take place in the recital hall of the Hurley School of Music.
Admission is $8 for
adults and $5 for students. Centenary students, faculty and staff
are admitted free.
The New Friends Chamber
Players group was organized in 1991 by Tom Hundemer and Ruth Drummond.
Made up of professional musicians in the Art-La-Tex region, the group specializes
in instrumental chamber music.
The Feb. 18 program
will contain Charles Loeffler’s 2 Rhapsodies for Oboe, Viola and Piano,
Robert Schumann’s Andante and Variations for 2 Pianos, 2 Cellos and
Horn, Bohuslav Martinu’s Quartetto for Clarinet, Horn, Cello and
Drum, and Sigfried Karg-Elert’s Jugend (Youth) for Flute, Clarinet,
Horn and Piano.
The performers will
be Ruth Drummond, cello; Thomas Hundemer, horn; Theresa Zale Bridges, oboe;
Paul Christopher, cello; Gay Grosz, piano; Sally Horak, flute; Jeanne Phelan,
viola; Thomas Phillips, clarinet; Ross Smith, piano, and Chandler Teague,
drum.
