Centenary College to
Present Kuumba House Dance Theatre on April 9
SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Centenary College
Student Activities Office will present the Kuumba House Dance Theatre in
an African song and dance performance Tuesday, April 9 at 8 p.m. in Hurley
Auditorium.
The company of dancers, singers and
drummers will peform the reverberating syncopations of South Africa in
their highly charged, energetic performances of traditional and contemporary,
ceremonial, social and folk dances. They fuse different regional African
dance styles, delivering a fresh and unique approach to the African concert
dance stage.
The singers bring the exciting vocal
harmonies of not only South Africa, but also other countries south of the
Sahara. Songs will be sung in the click sounds of Zulu, Xhosa, Sesotho
and other languages. Their songs carry messages of hope, freedom, love
and praise. Performers appear in authentic costumes, present live
music uses indigenous instruments.
