SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Hurley Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2002-03 season at 8 p.m. Sept. 30 in Centenary College’s Hurley Recital Hall with a concert featuring guest composer Robert Nelson and violin soloist Gary Bruns.
The program will include the Shreveport premiere of Nelson’s A Little Symphony for Strings along with Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Johann Strauss' Roses from the South waltz.
Bruns will perform Aaron Jay Kernis' Air for Violin and Orchestra and Mozart's Rondo in C for violin and orchestra.
Conducted by Dr. Eric McIntyre, assistant professor of music at Centenary, the program is open to the public at no charge. The recital hall is located in the Hurley Music Building on the east side of the campus on Woodlawn Street.
