Igor Begelman, Clarinetist,
and Tatiana Goncharova, Pianist, to Perform Sept. 27 at Centenary at Free
Piatigorsky Foundation- sponsored Concert
SHREVEPORT, LA -- On Friday, Sept.
27 at 7:30 p.m. the Hurley School of Music at Centenary College will present
a concert by Igor Begelman, clarinetist, and Tatiana Goncharova, pianist.
The program will include works by
Debussy, Poulenc and Saint-Saëns, as well as Gershwin's Three Preludes.
It will take place in the auditorium of the Hurley School of Music. Admission
is free.
The concert is sponsored by The Piatigorsky
Foundation, which offers more than 300 concerts nationally each year in
a variety of venues, emphasizing strong communication with audiences.
Winner of the year 2000 Avery Fisher
Career Grant, Begelman was raised in Kiev, Ukraine. He has taken
top prizes at the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition in Denmark
and the Geneva International Competition in Switzerland. Equally
accomplished as soloist and chamber musician, Begelman performed with the
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has appeared at numerous festivals
throughout the world, including Marlboro, Caramoor, Tucson, Tanglewood
and Schleswig-Holstein. He is now in his fifth season as a Piatigorsky
Foundation artist.
Accompanist Goncharova, who made
her debut with the Minsk Philharmonic at age 10, has performed around the
world and on National Public Radio's Performance Today. She
has performed at such noted venues as Alice Tully Hall, Kravis Center,
Caramoor, Ravinia, and at a highly acclaimed duo recital with Pinchas Zuckerman
in March 2001 at the Colden Center for the Performing Arts in New York
City, at a week's notice. Since her arrival in the United States in 1989,
Goncharova has won top prizes at the Olga Koussevitzky Piano Competition
and Bergen Philharmonic Competition as well as scholarships at The Juilliard
School and Manhattan School of Music.
