Woman's Department Club Donates Gift to Scholarship Fund at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The Woman's Department Club in Shreveport has honored the memory of Katherine Jackson French with a new donation to an existing scholarship. 

Dorothy Dornier, president, and Maredia Bowdon, first vice president of the Woman's Department Club, have presented a check to the Katherine Jackson French Annual Memorial Scholarship at Centenary College.

The scholarship was established at Centenary in 1959 and is awarded yearly to a female student majoring in English literature or education.  Dr. French, a professor at Centenary from 1924 to 1949 and a founder of the Woman's Department Club, lectured to members weekly for 17 years on English and classical literature.
