Centenary Faculty Earn
Board of Regents Grants in 2002-03
SHREVEPORT, LA -- Over $260,000 in Enhancement Grants from the Louisiana
Board of Regents came to professors at Centenary College in 2002-03, reports
Patty Roberts, director of sponsored research. Centenary faculty members
whose efforts were recognized with funding from the Regents this past
year:
- Dr. Kenneth Aizawa, $29,675 for “Vision Science
Laboratory”
- Dr. Ernest W. Blakeney Jr., $25,000 for “Instrumental
Tools for Enhanced Teaching and Undergraduate Research in Biochemistry”
and $50,000 (over two years) with Andre Blanchard of Lafayette for “Characterization
of Exocellular Chitin-metabolizing Enzymes”
- Dr. Dana Kress with Dr. Mark Gruettner
and Dr. Robert Bareikis, $36,280 for “Enhancing
Louisiana’s Cultural Legacy: Discovery and Publication of Lost/Forgotten
Treasures of Louisiana’s Literary Heritage in French, German and
Spanish”
- Dr. Alfred L. McKinney with Drs. Juan Rodriguez,
Katherine Brandl, Mark Schlatter and David Thomas
and Mr. Derrick Head, $42,000 for presentation/modeling/
Computer-Aided Design laboratory
- Dr. Elizabeth L. Rankin with Drs. Harold
R. Christensen and David J. Hoaas, $26,270
for “Enhancing the Economics Curriculum through a Teaching Lab”
- Dr. Gregory VanHoosier-Carey, $51,237 for “Enhancing
Video Production Resources at Centenary College”
