Wine Tasting, Dinner Aug. 24 to Celebrate Centennial of The Call of the Wild

SHREVEPORT, LA -- The 100th anniversary of Jack London's epic The Call of the Wild is the cause for celebration with a Wine Tasting-Dinner featuring the wines of Kenwood and the Jack London Vineyards. The benefit event will be held Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Cambridge Club of Shreveport, with wine tasting from 5 to 6 p.m. and a wine dinner at 6 p.m.

Special guests will be Drs. I. Milo Shepard, nephew of Jack London, and Jeanne Campbell Reesman ’77, alumna and London researcher.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Algur Meadows Museum in cooperation with the Jack London Vineyards and the Cambridge Club. It is part of the celebration of the centennial celebration that also includes a free exhibit at the Meadows Museum of Art on the Centenary campus.

For the benefit, cost per person is $50 for the wine tasting, $80 for the wine dinner, or $120 for both events. Checks, payable to the Friends of the Meadows, should be sent by to the Meadows Museum of Art, Centenary College, 2911 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport, LA 71104.

The Meadows will feature “Jack London: A Centenary Celebration of the Centennial of The Call of the Wild,’” curated by Dr. Earle Labor, Wilson Professor of American Literature at Centenary and an internationally known London scholar.
