SHREVEPORT, LA—Season and single tickets are now on sale for the 2003-2004 season of the Friends of Music Concert Series. Sponsored by the Hurley School of Music at Centenary College, Friends of Music will present four concerts this year. The season will open at 3 P.M. on Sunday, Jan. 25, with a performance by tenor Karl Dent. The Centenary alumnus and Grammy-winning recording artist will sing a program containing music by Samuel Barber, Claude Debussy and Henry Purcell, among others. He will be accompanied by Centenary faculty member Gay Grosz. On Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m., the New Friends Chamber Players, a group of regional professionals led by cellist Ruth Drummond and horn player Tom Hundemer, will present an afternoon of chamber music. March 21 at 3 p.m. will feature a concert by the Ariel Winds, an all-female woodwind quintet founded at Julliard in 1998. This group maintains an active touring schedule and focuses especially on arts education. The Ariel Winds will appear by arrangement with MCM Artists. The Friends of Music season will close on Sunday, April 25 at 3 p.m. with a program by one of the United Kingdom’s leading guitar ensembles, the New Pro Arte Guitar Trio. Their distinctive sound features the higher-pitched requinto guitar. All concerts will be in the newly renovated Anderson Auditorium of the
Hurley School of Music at Centenary College. Ticket purchasers may now
also reserve seats. Season tickets for the Friends of Music Concert Series
are $35for adults and $15 for students. Single concert tickets are $10
for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are on sale at the music office
