Timeline of Historic Music Events at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Centenary College will celebrate a century and a half of music at the college with a gala celebration covering three major events April 4-5.

On Friday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m., Constance Knox Carroll will perform a piano recital on the Friends of Music Concert Series. Jointly sponsored by the Friends of Music and a Sigma Alpha Iota Impact Project Grant, this concert will be in the newly remodeled Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley Music Building. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for non-Centenary students. Centenary faculty, staff and students will be admitted free with ID.

On Saturday, April 5 at 3:p.m. in the Haynes Gymnasium of the Fitness Center, there will be a grand concert featuring current ensemble groups from the Hurley School of Music, including the Hurley Symphony Orchestra, Centenary College Choir, Wind Ensemble, Camerata and the Jazz Ensemble. The entire Shreveport-Bossier community is invited and admission to that concert is free.

Following the grand concert, there will be an open house and reception at the Hurley School of Music for alumni and community members. The new Anderson Choral Building and the Feazel Instrumental Hall will be open for this occasion, as well as the Hurley Music Building itself.
