'The Real Jack London' Final Event Nov. 9 at Centenary's Meadows Museum of Art

SHREVEPORT, LA —"The Real Jack London," the final program of the Meadows Museum of Art's four-month Centennial Celebration of "The Call of the Wild"—widely acclaimed as "America's Greatest World Novel"— is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, in the museum's second floor galleries.

Dr. Jeff Hendricks, professor of English and American Literature, will discuss "Jack London in the History of American Literature." Dr. Earle Labor, Wilson Professor of American Literature and director of the Jack London Research Center, will explain the various canards and other fallacies that have obscured the true story of London's meteoric career. Labor is currently under contract with the noted publishing firm of Farrar, Straus & Giroux to produce the definitive London biography. His presentation will be followed by a booksigning of The Portable Jack London, edited by Professor Labor and published by the Viking/Penguin Press.

This Meadows Museum event, sponsored by the Friends of the Algur Meadows Museum and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, is free of charge and open to the general public.
