Centenary Chi Omegas Set Silent Auction Nov. 15 to Benefit Make-a-Wish Foundation of Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, LA –- A cap signed by LSU football coach Nick Saban and a scrub shirt autographed by actor George Clooney are among the hot items up for auction Saturday, Nov. 15 at Centenary College.

That’s when the Iota Gamma chapter of Chi Omega will hold a Just Wish for It! Silent Auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana. The event will be held in the Haynes Gymnasium of Centenary’s Fitness Center from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with auction tables opening and closing at varying times. It is open to the public, with a $3 donation requested at the door.

Auction Items

At least one other autographed item is included in the auction. That’s a copy of Dead Man Walking, signed by Sister Prejean. Also among the auction items are an hour of golf lessons with Dr. Clay Bolton, gift certificates to numerous restaurants, jewelry formed from vintage buttons, paintings, baby items, bath and hair products, diamond jewelry, and personal and home accessories.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Benefit

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the national charity of the Chi Omega Fraternity. “Iota Gamma is excited to be part of the Make-A-Wish family and looks forward to meeting our goal of raising $5,000 to help grant wishes and make a real impact in our community,” says Maria Moores, Chi Omega chapter president. “We want to take this opportunity to invite everyone out to the Silent Auction.” The proceeds of the event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana.

The Chi Omega/Make-A-Wish program also offers volunteer opportunities for Chi Omega members to serve their local community, as well as raising money from fund-raising events.

“We’re delighted to see Chi Omegas rally around the Make-A-Wish mission and offer their enthusiasm to help our local chapter,” said Jane Spence, associate director of development, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. It is the largest wish-granting organization in the world with 80 chapters in the United States and its territories, 23 international affiliates, more than 25,000 volunteers, and more than 97,000 wishes granted since inception in 1980.
