Only 29 clubs out of over 900 in the nation were placed in this highest category of recognition based on the number and diversity of the activities during the 2002-03 academic year. This is the third consecutive year the Centenary organization has received an outstanding distinction and the seventh consecutive year it has received a national award. The latest award plaque will be presented at the national American Chemical Society meeting in Anaheim, Calif., in March 2004. Officers during the award period were Jeff Broussard, president; Ashley Lacey, vice president; Laurie Stevison, secretary, and Christina Taylor, treasurer. Dr. Tom Ticich serves as faculty advisor to the group. The Chemistry Club's activities and events include an outreach program to a low-income area middle school, National Chemistry Week events, a trip to the national meeting and various social gatherings throughout the year. - 30 - |
