Hurley Chamber Orchestra Concert Set for 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, LA—The Hurley Chamber Orchestra at Centenary College will perform two string concertos from the late Baroque, featuring both students and faculty at 8 p.m. Sept. 29. The free public event will take place in the Anderson Auditorium of the Hurley Music Building.

Artists participating are Dr. Todd Gabriel, conductor; Josephine Glorioso, speaker; Todd Gabriel, viola; Robert Schaumburg, violin; Tim Nicholson, violin, and Sarah Kate Ross, cello.

The Concerto Grosso, Opus 6 No. 12 in E minor, by George Frideric Handel, features music majors Schaumburg, Nicholson and Ross as soloists. Conductor of the Hurley Chamber Orchestra and assistant professor of composition, Dr. Gabriel, will perform Georg Phillip Telemann's Viola Concerto in G Major.

Selections from Franz Schubert's Incidental Music for the 18th century play Rosamunde, Princess of Cyprus by Helmina von Chézy, will fill the second half of the program. Guest speaker Josephine Glorioso will present narrative throughout the evening's performance.
