Marcus Borg to Keynote Faith and Reason Seminar April 21 and 22 at Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA — Dr. Marcus Borg, known as one of the leading historical Jesus scholars of the current generation, will conduct a seminar on "Faith and Reason" April 21 and 22 at Centenary College.

The program is sponsored by the Centenary College Center for Theological Studies and Religious Studies Department in collaboration with the D.L. Dykes, Jr. Foundation. The seminar will offer continuing education credit for United Methodist clergy.

Borg's topic will be "The Heart of Christianity: Seeing the Christian Life Again" and will cover foundations, faith, and personall and social transformation.

Dr. Borg is the Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religon and Culture at Oxford University. He is the author of nine books, two of which have become bestsellers: Jesus: A New Vision and Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time. He has lectured widely in the United States and overseas, and his books have been translated into German, Dutch, Korean and French.

The seminar will begin at 7 p.m. April 21 in Brown Memorial Chapel on the Centenary campus, with a reception following. On April 22, the program will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m., also in Brown Chapel.

Sessions cost $10 for the Wedensday lecture, $25 for the Thursday lectures and $10 for the luncheon.
