SHREVEPORT, LA — Dr. Robert Bareikis, professor of German at Centenary College of Louisiana, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Research Grant for next year.

He will use the grant to do research on Hans Grohs, a German expressionist artist and poet on whom he has been working for several years and whose works were exhibited at the New Orleans Museum of Art some months ago. Dr. Bareikis was a participant in the exhibit and co-author of the exhibition catalog.

The Bauhaus Museum in Weimar, Germany is preparing an exhibition of Grohs' work in 2005-06, and Dr. Bareikis has been invited to assist in this effort.

Dr. Bareikis, who has been at Centenary since 1992, has a special research interest in German literature and European culture of the 17th and 18th centuries. He earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, both in Germanic languages and literature. He has also studied at the University of Munich and the University of Goetingen
