The Magic of John Rabenhorst Set for April 23-25 at Centenary College's Marjorie Lyons Playhouse

SHREVEPORT, LA—A show overflowing with humor, illusions, and best of all magic, The Magic of John Rabenhorst, will open at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on the Centenary College Campus at 8 p.m. April 23.

A native of Baton Rouge, La., Rabenhorst has been dabbling in magic for the majority of his life. His fascination with the trade came as early as age 5 when he saw his uncle perform a simple card trick. Rabenhorst says, “It upset me that my uncle could change the laws of nature we all have to live by.” From that upset, a blossoming career began.

Rabenhorst, now a senior at Centenary, has been performing magic ever since. At age 12 he began performing for children’s birthday parties. Since then he has accomplished a number of magical feats, including a performance for over 2,000 people at the Centroplex in Baton Rouge, receiving a teaching position at LSU (on the Psychology of Magic) at age 16.

He has also performed for the president of Centenary College, as well as the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and several charity events. He has coordinated the production of two major shows while at Centenary College: one during his freshman year entitled Dreams and another his sophomore year, Music and Magic.

Rabenhorst’s current show The Magic of John Rabenhorst will be running at the Marjorie Lyons Playhouse April 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. and April 25 at 2 p.m.

The Box Office will open April 19 and be open each day from noon to 4 p.m. Ticket reservations can be made by calling 318-869-5242. All seats cost $10.
